Now, 335 years later, his well-preserved mummy awakens a sense of wonder. His body has been shown to be one of Europe’s best-preserved mummies. WebThe mummified child appeared to have been secreted away at the bottom of the coffin on purpose. Peder Winstrup was born way back in 1605. He became a Bishop of the area of Lund, Scania, which is now part of modern-day Sweden. It’s not known if he was related to the child, but at the time illegitimate children were not entitled to a proper burial.
