WebMay 14, 2016 · Power wise it pulls well and has red coolant in there right now but not sure on history bought the truck with 550k miles. Water pump is original at 815k miles. Rods and Mains with oil pump and overhead set done about 70k ago as a precaution. I will probably work on installing those gauges. WebDec 29, 2008 · Posts: 334. Okay, ran the engine for a total of 7 hours, 4 hours and then another 3 hours. Started out by cleaning out the oil from the coolant reservoir with paper towels and placing them in a plastic bag, and checking the oil level. Then ran it for 4 hours at 1,600 RPM, let it cool down and checked things out.

WebMay 18, 2015 · The oil pressure on a good motor runs between @40 to 60 lbs. The coolant pressure is @17lbs depending on the cap you have on the radiator. If there is a leak between the coolant and an oil port feed, that is the way it will travel. If the leak involves an oil return port or the actual cylinder it will go the other way. WebJan 3, 2011 · My 2006 Peterbilt 379, Cummins ISX engine, has used 4 gallons of coolant this week. It does not appear to be leaking anywahere, but when the truck is running, you can smell hot coolant around the passenger side. The low coolant light never comes on while running, but only after being shut off for 12 hours or more. I'm guessing EGR cooler?
